The Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative (AFCI)/ Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) University Fellowship Program is accepting applications through 5 p.m. Central Daylight Time, Saturday, April 21 at http://www.studentpipeline.org


Please encourage your highly motivated students who are interested in acquiring master's degrees related to the AFCI research program to read the program announcement at the http://www.studentpipeline.org website and apply for this fellowship.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative (AFCI) is offering fellowships valued at up to $42,500 each to provide support to students who will be pursuing master's degrees in the Fall of 2007 in engineering, chemistry, physics, or radiochemistry.

Preferred undergraduate degrees include Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear Chemistry and Radiochemistry.

* Up to eight Fellowships will be awarded.

* Fellows will receive up to $42,500 for up to 18 months, which includes a monthly stipend and funds for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and AFCI-related travel.

* Fellows must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens and must be accepted into a master's degree program by September 1, 2007.

* Fellows will conduct master's degree research and have a thesis related to and approved by the AFCI program. In some cases, students will not have theses.

* At some time during their fellowship, fellows will be encouraged to work in the AFCI program at a national laboratory.

Job Description:

Fellows work within NNSA's Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation on programs designed to detect, prevent, and reverse the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, while mitigating the risks from nuclear operations. 12 to 14 month, full-time fellow program provides participants with specialized training and practical experience on projects and initiatives that contribute to a safer world. In addition to gaining valuable experience working with federal government programs, participants have opportunities to collaborate with the U.S. Department of Energy, other government agencies, national laboratories, and non-governmental organizations.

Qualifications:

U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a DOE security clearance.
Graduate student with academic specialization in International Affairs, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, Nuclear Engineering (applicants with combined skills in technical and policy fields are of particular interest).
Available for 12 to 14 month, full-time participation.
Career interest in nonproliferation and national security.
Demonstrated maturity, good judgment, self-motivation, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Either currently enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program, or receiving same degree in 2007.
For foreign placements only, conversationally fluent in the foreign language consistent with host-country assignment≈experience working or studying abroad preferred.

Возможно что ОСУ смодет в следущем году взять на обучение несколько студентов

Сециальности - Физика реакторов, Методы расчета реакторов, Топливный Цикл и Радиохимия.

Так что если кому интересно - пишите сюда или в личку, и присылайте свои резюме.
